How the example works
Booth $75 + travel $25 + other costs $20 + six hours at $20 = $240 event cost. Each $15 item leaves $15 − $5 − $0.45 − $0.30 = $9.25. $240 ÷ $9.25 = 25.95, so 26 items cover the modeled cost. At 80 items, the modeled surplus is $500.
Use contribution, not revenue
A $15 sale is not $15 available to pay the booth fee. Remove variable costs and payment fees first. Then divide fixed event costs by the amount left per item.
Match the product mix
This single-product or average-item calculation assumes your input mix holds. If low-margin items sell more than expected, actual break-even changes. Use separate product rows in the paid kit when reviewing the event.
Keep the time cost visible
Including your time makes the event comparison more useful. If you set labor to zero to examine cash costs only, label that choice in your own records. Taxes, unsold-stock losses, and costs you omit are not included.
